Selecting the correct sheer fabric for your outdoor patio blinds

Our own guide in selecting the correct Sheer fabric for your outdoor patio roller screens!

All mesh materials for outdoor roller blinds are imported and all are of the same type of quality, most of them offering 2- 10 year guarantees.

The most important factors to consider are:

• Opt for the brand that is exclusively for outdoor use.
• Try avoid brands that are also used for indoor blinds as these may not have sufficient UV and insist on the fabric being at least 550gsm thick or higher.
• The tightness of the weave is the most NB factor! Referred to as the ‘fabric openness factor’
• 3% openness – Gives maximum water proof factor of 90% and gives 90% shading. Still gives great visibility to the outside
• 5%-10% openness - Gives maximum waterproof factor of 60-80% and 70-80% shading. Exceptional visibility to the outside.
• Also note these fabrics give you privacy in the day time , but do not give privacy at night
• Should you require full privacy and 100% waterproof factor – Request a fabric called Sundream
• Ensure that the colour you select is part a of a standard range that is always available in the country, should you ever need to add an extra blind later down the line
